it's not what you say... it's the way you say it. setzt sich mit den vielen Ebenen menschlicher Kommunikation auseinander. Sprache entsteht nicht allein durch Worte, sondern ebenso durch Gesten, Farben, Symbole, Bilder und Objekte.

Ausgangspunkt der Arbeit ist das Paradox, dass bestimmte Kommunikationsformen für manche Menschen selbstverständlich verständlich sind, für andere jedoch völlig unzugänglich bleiben. Gesten, kulturelle Codes und Redewendungen prägen die Art und Weise, wie Botschaften vermittelt und wahrgenommen werden.

Die Zeichnung ist Teil des Projekts ...the way you say it., das alternative Formen der Kommunikation erforscht und Besucher*innen dazu einlädt, eigene Gedanken mithilfe von Symbolen, Farben und Objekten auszudrücken.

The act of communicating transcends mere verbal or written language in a specific idiom or dialect. It can manifest in various forms, whether through images, objects, symbols, colours or sounds. The body itself can also serve as an instrument for expression through movement and hand gestures, as in sign language.

What captivates the artist is the inherent paradox within communication. Certain codes can be comprehended by large groups of people while remaining entirely incomprehensible to others. This phenomenon is especially apparent in spoken and written language but is equally present in gestures, symbols and proverbs shaped by different cultures.

"It's not what you say, it's the way you say it." This expression often emerges during complex and tense situations. The manner in which we convey our thoughts and feelings can profoundly influence others. Words can be as destructive as a weapon or as soothing as a beautiful song. Yet the core message remains unchanged, regardless of how it is presented.

The project ...the way you say it. explores visual communication and symbolism by inviting participants to express their thoughts through compositions created with symbolic objects and colours. The drawing it's not what you say... it's the way you say it. represents the artist's own composition, expressing emotions and ideas through colour symbolism and objects. It forms part of an ongoing project that blurs the boundaries between artist and audience by encouraging active participation in alternative forms of communication.
