Between Us I

"Between Us" is an ongoing series of figurative paintings that explores how human relationships are shaped through closeness, vulnerability and the spaces we share.
My paintings begin with encounters between individual bodies, but they are ultimately about living together. Rather than presenting identity as something fixed or self-contained, I see it as something that is constantly formed and transformed through contact with others. Bodies, gestures and physical proximity become a way of thinking about belonging, dependence and the fragile balance between individuality and connection.
Nature is an essential part of these works. Trees, branches, roots and water are not backgrounds but active elements that influence the relationships between the figures. They connect, divide and reshape the space between people, suggesting that every relationship is embedded in a larger environment that is constantly changing.

For Parallel Vienna , I present "Between Us" as a reflection on Europe not as a fixed geographical or political entity, but as a shared space where different identities, histories and experiences continuously meet and negotiate their place. The paintings are not intended as illustrations of political ideas; instead, they explore coexistence through intimate human encounters. Questions of solidarity, difference and belonging emerge through the body, through proximity and through the emotional tension that exists between people.
The works do not offer definitive answers. Instead, they invite viewers to reflect on how relationships shape identity, how closeness can exist without erasing difference, and how a shared future may be imagined through empathy, vulnerability and mutual presence.
